When I was a kid, my dad did most of the “cheffing” and my mom did most of the “cooking”. Since my dad worked a lot; that meant my mom prepared most of the meals, and for someone who hates to cook that usually meant the preparation was plain and simple (meat, potatoes, vegetable). Sunday’s were different though. My dad would spend a lot of time preparing our Sunday dinner. It usually involved several pots & pans, a plethora of seasonings and flavors, and a whopping mess at the end. When I was old enough guess who was stuck with cleanup duty? I’m no dummy, so I decided I had to become the chef so someone else could clean up after me. In all honesty I’ve always been a good eater. I love food!
I’m a former Shoe Buyer (or shoedog as they’re affectionately called) turned stay-at-home mom. I know firsthand how hard it is to balance a family and career and what always went by the wayside was our family mealtime. We spent so much time deciding where to eat, what to eat, fighting with our son to keep him entertained while we waited, and worst of all paying a ridiculous bill for a less than satisfying meal. One thing I learned as a kid was our family dinners (while simple) were the best times! There’s nothing better than being at home eating and talking and bonding. I decided that life was too short to waste my talents contributing to the over-consuming habits of America. It was time for me to leave corporate life to start doing something I’m passionate about that can help others.
I am a certified 100% home schooled chef. Over the last 15 years I have cooked for lots and lots and lots of people! I worked in the camp kitchen when I was in 9th grade, experimented A LOT when I lived on my own, and have made holiday feasts for 15, not to mention all the meals I’ve made for my own family. I’ve utilized every resource imaginable (TV, internet, library, friends, & family) researching food. I’ve watched more TV shows on food than anyone would care to admit. There is nothing more gratifying than when people compliment me on my cooking.
My hope is whatever situation you are in, I can meet a need by preparing delish tasting and healthy meals that you and your family/friends will enjoy. Whether you’re an aspiring cook looking for tips and tricks, someone (like my mom) who doesn’t like to cook, or someone who just doesn’t have the time, I want to help.
